Emmy is one the best around, plain and simple. So it is our pleasure to promote her the Head of Photography. She knows what it takes to pursue your dreams in this industry. Emmy constantly serves as an example of what we should all aspire to be. You might know her as the head of EMSU Media. It’s an awesome media outlet the features bands no matter what level they are at in their careers. Even on her podcast, Chats with the Freak, she has interviewed local bands all the way to artists who have toured the world. There is no better choice.

The End of Melancholy

Volk

Featured Artist: Volk
By Emmy Susani

VOLK is the thrashy/twang love child I didn’t know I needed. Small in size yet big in sound, VOLK is Chris Lowe (electric guitar, vocals) and Eleot Reich (drums, lead vocals). Together they kick out the jams with a high-octane show combining politics, poetry, and pageantry.

Their debut album, Cashville, is their first full-length release and the first to capture the full range of their cinematic style. The twelve song LP is a banger after banger, this album perfectly sums up VOLK in the best way possible. Straight ahead power with each and every song.

VOLK has come a long way since Reich and Lowe met in Berlin, Germany circa 2013 at a brothel-turned-bar called Madame Claude’s. Lowe taught at an international school; Reich was completing her theater degree; both turned to songwriting as a refuge for creativity. They ran across each other one fateful Sunday at Madame Claude’s open mic night where both were trying out their original songs, Lowe on the slide guitar, Reich belting out the blues. Their initial folksy acoustic collaboration eventually needed more—the songs were calling out for it. They added a drummer for a month, but when he split town, leaving behind a drum set in their apartment, Lowe asked Reich to give the abandoned drums a try in a moment of inspiration.

I found VOLK playing a small bar in the outskirts of Pennsylvania and am still blown away by how much this two piece can totally take over a room. The band has been pretty hard on the touring circuit, stay posted on their socials to catch them out on the road. You won’t be disappointed.

Sick N’ Beautiful – Starstruck

Featured Frontiers Music Artist: Sick N’ Beautiful – Starstruck (album)
By Dakota Horbaczek

I have been a fan of Sick N’ Beautiful for a long time. They were a featured artist for Halloween a few years back and even did a page takeover. This band comes at you with an aggressive metal sci-fi experience with a touch of horror mixed in. Not too long ago this incredible band signed with Frontiers Music srl. It’s an amazing thing to watch one of your favorite bands get the recognition they deserve. Today we celebrate their brand new album Starstruck.

As soon as Tonight We Go To War came on I thought this would be the perfect soundtrack for Resident Evil. I was ready to start killing some zombies. It has the perfect blend of electronic, metal and melodic vocals that will inspire you to take on anything. Their album’s namesake track, Starstruck, followed it up to continue building a fire in your soul. Sick N’ Beautiful have built a sci-fi epic with their music giving you an iconic sound that you can’t find anywhere else.

Defy The Light has you entering into the violence and gore of a horror movie. It hits you with a more aggressive sound than the ones that open up this album. Now that your blood is rushing its time to slow it to a more hard rock tune with Deep End Dark. It’s always nice to see that a band is capable of more than just one style. Definitely a nice addition to the album. Schadenfreude has much more electronic elements poured into it. Throughout the album so far Herma’s voice has been awe-inspiring. Her melodic style mixed with that rasp really makes her stand out among most vocalists.  Which adds such depth to this album it upgrades it from good to great in my opinion.

We are nearing the albums end but Pull Of Gravity keeps us locked in to Sick N’ Beautiful’s captivating sound. The last song I want to mention is Angels Be Fallin’.

If I could travel back in time
If I could just turn back the clock
If I could bring you back I would

Just these first 3 lines hit me very hard. I’ve lost a lot of people including my brother. This song resonated deeply and I’m thankful to this band for it. This whole album is worth many listens. Sick N’ Beautiful has several new videos for this album and you should watch all of them. Go get Starstruck today!!

Featured Artist: Eternal Frequency
By Emmy Susani

Formed in the spring of 2018, Eternal Frequency is a five piece female fronted all original hard rock band hailing from Central Pennsylvania. They follow in the footsteps of acts such as Spiritbox, Halestorm, Evanescence and others. Blending influences of Metalcore, Hard rock, and Active Rock, Eternal Frequency brings a new energy that is also dominated by vocalist, songwriter, and frontwoman Emelle. In just under four years as a band they have released several studio singles as well as music videos including “Parasite”, “What Are We Waiting For”, “Head Like A Hole”, “Step Up” and “A.I.” to the masses and have been reaping nothing but positive energy and reviews from their supporters. They have accrued a massively strong cult following in the Pennsylvania area and have garnered attention in regional markets.

It’s no surprise why they’ve been one of the biggest breakout bands in Pennsylvania, hard hitting riffs, catchy choruses, and smooth verses. This band has a formula for song writing and nothing can beat it.

2022 is shaping up to be Eternal Frequency’s biggest year yet and proving why they are the next big break out band in the hard rock/metalcore scene.  Look out for them at Rocklahoma 2022!

The Jasons are a loud, aggressive, punk rock band from Fairmont, WV. Since forming in 2015, The Jasons have made a name for themselves grinding on the touring circuit and putting on a show nobody can leave forgetting about.

Combining the 4-chord, 16th note, down picking onslaught of the Ramones with the showmanship, marketing strategy, and theatrics of KISS. In the span of 5 years, The Jasons have released as many albums on digital, CD, cassette, and vinyl formats.

With their cult fanbase and hard work ethic, this band will do nothing but great things going forward.
